THE GATES OF SLUMBER: Florida, South Carolina Dates Cancelled

November 27, 2008

Heralded Indianapolis, Indiana doom metal masters THE GATES OF SLUMBER, who are currently on the road in the U.S. with fellow Indianapolis metal troupe DEMIRICOUS, have issued the following update:

"Sorry for this but we have had to cancel the dates in Florida and South Carolina. We are EXTREMELY sorry for doing this as this is something that we didn't want to do at all however, with certain situations that have happened we feel that picking the tour back up in Baltimore [on November 30] is by far the best situation for both bands. Sorry to everyone in the south for this and hopefully sometime in the next couple of months THE GATES OF SLUMBER will be able to make these dates back up."

Affected dates are as follows:

Nov. 25 - Tallahassee, FL - The Engine Room
Nov. 26 - Tampa, FL - Brass Mug
Nov. 28 - Gainesville, FL - The Atlantic
Nov. 29 - Spartanburg, SC - Ground Zero

Dubbed the Conquest Of Poverty Tour, the current expedition is spotlighting a band that has been called "a breath of fresh air within the doom/true metal underground." Since 2006, THE GATES OF SLUMBER has consistently toured almost exclusively on European soil, where it has developed a rabid fan base. The band's high-potency live performances have garnered serious word-of-mouth kudos and built it a cult following amongst the die-hard traditional metal/doom community, resulting in fans literally driving hours to catch the band's live sets. Now, with the buzz surrounding THE GATES OF SLUMBER reaching new heights in the band's home country, the time is right for the metal band to showcase its live muscle on domestic stages.

"Conqueror" was released on May 27, 2008 via Profound Lore Records and is a mighty plunge that proves true heavy metal doubles as a powerful art form. The doomy, epic metal pillage was produced and recorded in full analog at Chicago's Volume Studios and produced by Sanford Parker (NACHTMYSTIUM, LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR, PELICAN).
